group of eight matching early american industrial steel wire gym locker room storage baskets designed and manufactured by the american playground device company (originally known as the the american playground device & swing co.), of anderson. ind. the all-wire baskets are comprised entirely of overlapping wire mesh reinforced along the top with heavy gauge bent solid steel rods. the art deco style riveted joint number plaques or badges retains the original baked black enameled finish against die cut aluminum. surface rust, along with general wear and tear consistent with age. the baskets were likely made between 1920-30. salvaged from the detroit public school system. priced for the lot of eight. each one measures approximately 12 x 13 x 8 inches.
