original and intact american machine age adjustable swing-arm table or desk lamp designed and fabricated by the faries mfg. co., decatur, il. the lamp contains a cast iron weighted base concealed by a thin wrought steel cover plate. the double-arm lamp pivots with ease. the pressed "milk" glass reflector softens the intensity of the source of illumination. the reflector is bowl shaped with the larger opening facing upward. the thin spun aluminum steel shade with lightly incised "speed" rings sits on the reflector. the lamp has been brushed down to bare metal and darkened with an oil-rubbed metallic bronze finish. the lamp cord and plug are in excellent working condition. the socket containing an on/off dial switch is original to the fixture. the arm measures 16 inches in length x 22 inches in height. shade diameter measures 14 inches.
