original antique american ornamental cast bronze entrance door backplate containing two skeleton keyholes (the lower hole was traditionally designed for use with a "master" key). the neoclassical style doorkonb backplate was likely fabricated by the russell & erwin, or possibly p. & f. corbin company. the top and bottom are adorned with anthemions, highly curvaceous scrollwork and bellflowers flanking a central floral rosette. nicely aged surface patina with oxidation evident within the recessed regions or crevices. measures approximately 11 x 2 5/8 inches.
