lightly cleaned original antique american industrial depression era medium-sized steam pressure gauge likely designed and fabricated by the american steam gauge and valve mfg. company. the oversized gauge contains a nicely aged and well-preserved cast brass bevel with a sunken clear glass face protecting the instrument's face with indicator arrow. the backside of the two-part steam gauge is comprised of cast iron with a retouched black enameled finish. the "federal" chicago-marshalltown gauge was salvaged from an a. finkl & sons foundry machine shop building undergoing demolition. the gauge was in working condition prior to the machinery being shut off. measures approximately 8 x 2 1/2 inches.
