pair of original antique american c. 1917 industrial "saltzman" toggle press machine table bases or legs designed and fabricated by or for the jos saltzman mfg. co., chicago, il. the bases are comprised of fanciful cast iron with deeply embossed lettering and a mostly uniform finish. the toggle press was used in the clothing industry for rapid effective pressing of garments using very powerful and continuous pressure combined with heat and moisture. the bases or legs would make an ideal repurposed table (see pictures). priced for the pair. measures 22 x 2 1/2 x 28 inches.
