original late 19th or early 20th century highly sought after american industrial factory foreman's office table or desk lamp designed and fabricated by the faries mfg. co., decatur, il. the telescoping table lamp contains the distinctive "c-arm" configuration comprised of a bent tubular brass arm. the shell socket with paddle switch moves freely up and down the arm to achieve the desired angle of light. the weighted cast iron base is concealed with a stamped brass cover containing a nicely fluted design. the lower section of the lamp retains the socket contains a fanciful victorian era blue opalescent striped glass bell-shaped shade fabricated by phoenix glass. the old incandescent lamp socket has been rewired. the lamp is fully adjustable in height in addition to the movement of the socket. the knurled edge dials are original to the lamp. great overall condition, considering age. measures 10 in wide x 22 1/2 in high. shade is 8 inches in diameter.
