all original antique c. 1860's lightly tumbled civil war-era deep cobalt blue blobtop soda bottle manufactured for bottler john wise in allentown, pennsylvania. the low sloping shoulders and long narrow neck are finished with an intact applied blobtop that exhibits some slop. the body contains a good strike, with clear and legible embossed lettering reading "j. wise / allentown / pa" with a raised end-letter 'a' in the abbreviated 'pennsylvania'. the base has a shallow domed kickup. allover crudities in the form of bubbles, whittling, and slight asymmetry are consistent with age and date of manufacture.
