original late 1840's open-pontiled antique american aqua blue unembossed "medicine shaped" privy dug bottle with crude applied prescription lip. the heavily whittled bottle was likely blown in a two-piece mold, with the body featuring a seam that runs up from the heel and ends below the neck. the finish has significant slop, as well as straw-like inclusions on the squat neck beneath. there is no embossment or marking to indicate the maker. the body has an opalized patination and other crudities typical of its age and date of manufacture, including, but not limited to, asymmetry and discoloration and open pontil scar. unearthed from a st. louis wood-lined privy vault.
