robust solidly built early 20th century american industrial cook county hospital power plant workshop table or bench. the reinforced cast iron bases or legs with oversized floor plates were fabricated by or for the w.a. jones foundry & mach co., chicago, il. the two-tier spacious tabletop is comprised of rock hard maple wood that has been refinished and sealed with a clear coat lacquer. the iron legs have been brushed down to bare metal and sealed to prevent surface corrosion. the workbench was salvaged from a workshop housed within the old cook county hospital power plant - now demolished. great height as a console, shop desk, etc. measures approximately 60 x 21 x 35 inches.
