original vintage c. 1930's primitive american double-sided heavy gauge steel outdoor railroad mile marker (alternatively known as mileposts or mile posts) sign with the original yellow and black enameled finish largely intact. this type of sign was generally used to provide reference points along the line. the sign fabricator is not known. contains two holes in the upper corners for mounting purposes. the railroad line for which the sign was used is not known. surface wear consistent with age. measures 16 1/2 x 10 1/2 inches.
