early 20th century american antique industrial freestanding mammoth filing cabinet salvaged from the basement of the old cook county (extant) hospital, located on the west side of chicago. the oversized all-metal filing cabinet was very well-maintained throughout the years of it's use in the hospital's basement. the cold-rolled pressed and folded steel stationary cabinet contains 44 matching sliding drawers. each drawer is equipped with a pressed brass pull and label or placard holder. the original baked green olive enameled finish remains in great overall condition, considering age. the "fireproof" cabinet was designed and fabricated by the canton metal art company, canton, oh. the cabinet measures at 55 inches x 14 inches x 44 1/2 inches.
