late 1930's american depression era vintage art deco style machine age freestanding floor lamp designed and manufactured by the general electric company, schenectady, ny. the adjustable height floor lamp features a "stepped" profile spun aluminum shade with original black enameled finish. the bent tubular steel telescoping rod or pole retains the original polished chrome plating. the weighted cast iron circular base is original to the fixture. the nickel-plated key socket with ventilated "uno" fitter has been rewired. the angle of the lamp is fully adjustable with a single joint containing a large wing nut (found directly above the socket). measures approximately 62 inches in height when fully extended.
