hard to find all original and structurally sound stationary american vintage industrial chicago public school woodworking classroom multi-purpose table or workbench designed and fabricated by the brodhead-garrett co., cleveland, oh. the c. 1940's vintage workshop desk or station contains a refinished weathered and worn rock solid maple wood tabletop fastened tightly against the metal base. the single-sided, compartmentalized folded and pressed steel base contains six equally-sized lockers with hinged doors and lockable hasps and louvered vents. the furniture sheet steel base has been brushed down to bare metal and sealed with a clear coat lacquer. two workbenches equipped with locker unit bases were salvaged from the same public school. the other desk or table contains a slightly different configuration, despite being fabricated by the same manufacturer. 64 inches x 23 inches x 33 1/4 inches.
