late 19th century american ornamental wrought brass "ceylon" pattern interior passage door backplate. fabricated around 1885-90 by the p. & f. corbin co., new britain, ct. the long and slender backpplate features lightly incised floral motifs combined with abstract geometric shaped or forms. mostly uniform surface patina. thimble or collar intact. measures approximately 5 1/2 x 1 1/2 inches.
