late 1940's american art deco streamlined style fluorescent light table or desk lamp designed and patented by paul h. irmisefaer, chicago, il. the simple and sleek desk lamp features a unique shade bent to provide a transversely curved shield with spacious a light slot for housing the fluorescent tube. the grooved and/or "stepped" end caps are original and intact. the shade is supported by two bent tubular steel arms with ball and socket joints. these lamps were available in different finishes, with the most popular being a faux wood grain finish. the fabricator is not known. the lamp reflector or shade and weighted angled base contains a brushed bare metal finish sealed with a clear coat finish. measures 15 3/4 x 7 x 10 3/4 inches.
