modified 19th century american industrial four-legged solid birch wood stationary stool designed and fabricated by the johnson chair company, chicago, il. the turned (and once flared) legs have been cut down to accommodate one's needs at one point in time. the swivel seat with sunken center does revolve upwards and downwards with ease. the fanciful cast iron cradle and solid steel threaded spindle have been refinished and sealed with a clear coat lacquer. the wood legs and seat have been sanded down and refinished. dates to 1892-95. structurally sound and solid. measures approximately 12 x 12 x 21 to 24 inches.
