original c. 1910-20 antique american industrial stationary industrial drop-down or folding stool designed and fabricated by the chicago hardware foundry co., chicago, il. this versatile floor-mount stool was used in telephone booths, elevator cars, locomotive engine cabs and other places that had very little space to move about. the single reinforced cast iron pivoting support is mounted to a weighted base plate with pre-drilled for anchoring against the floor. the small stool seat is comprised solid maple wood with a slightly sunken center. the bracket or arm pivots with ease. the iron components have been brushed down to bare metal and sealed with a clear coat lacquer. great overall condition. measures 26 inches high with a seat diameter of 11 inches.
