original late 1920's or early 1930's antique american industrial chicago foundry machinist's tool chest designed and fabricated by craftsman and likely distributed by the sears, roebuck & company or the manning, maxwell & moore, new york city, ny. the refinished machine shop chest is reinforced with multiple fanciful corner and/or strap guards riveted against the cabinet exterior. the original pressed steel drop handle remains intact. the clasps and lockable hasp are in great working condition. the interior retains the original circular-shaped mirror affixed to the backside of the hinged top. the steel cabinet door slides out to expose addition storage space. the diminutive steel pull is original to the cabinet door. the machinist chest was savaged from a notable chicago foundry undergoing demolition.
