late 1920's american vintage medical four-legged brushed metal "simmons" bedside table salvaged from a chicago area hospital. the freestanding table is comprised largely of cold-rolled folded and pressed heavy gauge steel with brushed metal finish. the side table features a single pull-out drawer with original pressed steel square-shaped knob or pull. the undershelf provides additional storage space for books and the like. the tubular square posts or legs retain the original solid steel "shoes" for added stability. the tabletop is comprised of maple wood with an amber shellac finish. fabricated by the simmons manufacturing co., kenosha, wi. measures 19 3/4 x 15 3/4 x 34 3/4 inches.
