vintage american industrial repurposed single electric pendant light fixture with unusual staggered shade assembly fabricated by the appleton electric co., chicago, il. the unique dome-shaped cast iron "swivel" canopy was designed and patented by the electric supply co., chicago, il. the fuly functional appleton "walk light" features three closely-spaced and staggered green porcelain enameled diffusers surrounding a fully enclosed impact resistant clear glass bulb guard. the standard ceramic socket for use with an incandescent light bulb has been rewired. the socket housing is comprised of reinforced aluminum with threaded ends for pipe and glass "jar." the weather-resistant or "explosion proof" fixture contains pressed and formed cold-rolled steel shades with a reflective white underside. measures 31 x 8 inches.
