very distinctive and unusually large early 1900's american flush mount single-sided die cut yellow brass metal "entrance" and "exit" signs fabricated by or for r.h. gardner & co., chicago, il. the oversized rectangular-shaped signs contain fanciful lightly engraved or incised lettering with original baked black enameled inlay largely intact. the "header" signs contain four opposed screw holes for mounting purposes. the nicely aged surface patina or finish is mostly uniform throughout. the informational plaques were salvaged from the chicago athletic club association annex building, designed by architects schmidt, garden and martin in 1907. priced for the set. measure 5 x 13 1/2 and 5 x 15 inches
