one of three matching all original and intact 19th century antique american ornamental cast brass metal interior residential pocket door backplates possibly designed and fabricated by branford lock works, branford, ct. the single backplate retains the original baked black enameled inlay used to accentuate the casting detail. the pocket door handles were salvaged from a chicago residence undergoing demolition. the house was constructed in 1886. measures 2 x 1/2 x 4 3/4 inches.
