hard to find intact and all original nineteenth century cornflower blue glass soda bottle manufactured for charles cleminshaw in troy, new york. the slim body and low shoulders slope into a long neck and completely intact applied blobtop. the front body is embossed "c. cleminshaw / soda & / mineral water / troy . n.y." with some crudity in spacing and proximity to the side seams. the smooth base is slightly indented and features no embossing, and evidences manufacture with a cup bottom mold. crudities are consistent with age and date of manufacture, including whittling, bubbles, and minor surface wear. there is a single open bubble on the body, likely occurring during its manufacture. charles cleminshaw was an upstate industrialist, who had a bottling business in troy, new york beginning in the 1850's.
