all original and intact solid cherry wood carved chicago residential interior front parlor fireplace mantel with massive overmantel retaining the original beveled edge mirror. the hand-carved fireplace mantel was salvaged during the late 1970's from a gold coast mansion undergoing demolition. the fireplace mantel and mirror retain the original darkly stained finish. the heavily carved mantel features unique fretwork above the mirror. the protruding corbels below the main shelf are intact and structurally sound. the exact fabricator is not known. the mantel dates to 1889-1891. 59 x 15 x 88 inches. Mantel shelf is 48 inches high.
