original antique american depression era industrial four-legged hotel guestroom all-metal stationary side chair designed and fabricated by the simmons mfg. co., kenosha, wisc. the well-built chair is comprised of pressed and folded furniture sheet steel that has been brushed and sanded down to bare metal and sealed with a clear coat lacquer. the front legs are turned and tapered. the stretcher attached between both sets of legs is structurally sound. the curved backrest contains a single cluster of flat metal slats positioned in the center. the spacious seat may or may not have had a cushion at some point in time. judging from the lack of mounting holes, if there was a cushion it may have been strapped on, whereas other simmons chairs contain padded seat screwed into place. 15 1/2 x 14 1/2 x 35 inches
