original c. 1940's american industrial repurposed fully functional iron and steel hand-crank die cart table manufactured by hamilton tool co., hamilton, oh. the portable elevating table or "portelvator" was designed and patented by oscar schilchter in 1933. the heavily reinforced all-metal mobile cart has been thoroughly cleaned and brushed down to bare metal. the brushed metal finish has been treated with a clear coat lacquer. the gear box, gears and tenoned screws are in great working condition, considering age. the hardened rubber or composite stationary, and smaller swivel wheels are original and intact. the foot-operated brake pedal keeps the cart in a stationary position when engaged. the original crank handle is used to manually lift the heavy steel deck upwards and downwards. the undershelves provide plenty of additional storage space. the versatile well-built cart would look great in the kitchen or in a variety of other design applications. the topmost deck contains a solid quartered oak wood tongue and groove tabletop with four-sided apron completely concealing the metal any and all metal. the refinished solid wood slab is fastened tightly against the steel deck. several industrial hand-crank die carts available. salvaged from a west side chicago sheet metal fabrication factory founded in in 1894. measures approximately 36 x 24 inches with an adjustable height of 27 - 40 inches.
