exceptionally rare and original c. mid-1870's-1880's amber quart cider or ale slug plate bottle with intact wire bail manufactured for chicago bottlers blass & hofelot. the front body features a clean strike in the form of block lettering "blass & hofelot /chicago" inside a round slug plate. the tapering shoulders and long neck are finished with an applied ring that exhibits some slop or asymmetry. the smooth base is embossed with the maker's mark "df &d", indicating it might have been made in the 1880's. crudities are typical of its age and date of manufacture, including haze or discoloration from being dug.
