original 19th century american eastlake style ornamental cast brass "ceylon" pattern interior residential pocket door backplate. the deeply recessed "cup" handle contains a single skeleton keyhole opening. traces of the original black enameled inlay remain intact. the antique american made backplate was fabricated by the p. & f. corbin co., new britain, ct. measures 4 1/2 x 2 inches.
