highly sought after original and largely intact distinctive atomic age "flying saucer" style desk or table lamp designed and fabricated by or for the the sight light corp., deep river, conn. and/or sight light div. of m.g. wheeler co., greenwich, ct. the lamp contains circular-shaped weighted base with a protruding bracket supporting the outstretched bent brass metal tubular arm. the saucer-shaped shade or reflector is held tightly in place with a cast brass ball-shaped finial. the socket housing contains three holes that support three strips of metal allowing the shade to "float" above the light source. the desk or table lamp, dating to the late 1940's, has been brushed down to bare metal and sealed with a cleat coat lacquer. great overall condition. measures 23 x 13 x 16 inches.
