original c. 1910-15 antique american industrial fully adjustable robust "the fry" cast iron and wood draftsman table designed, patented and fabricated by the c. f. peason company, chicago, ills. the remarkable sound and sturdy architect's drafting table retains the original segmented pine or fir table top riddled with pin holes from over a hundred years of use. the raising, lowering and tilting off the spacious drawing board is achieved by manually rotating the cast iron spoked hand wheels until desired position is achieved. the distinctive single cabinet drawer is comprised of oak wood and retains the original varnished finish with allover crazing evident. the tabletop can be lifted upward or downward by means of opposed notched cast iron brackets, thus allowing the user to easily access or conceal materials stored in the storage compartment. a centrally located lever integrated into the base and mounted along the underside of the solidly-built cabinet controls the table's tilt. the fanciful cast iron base has been thoroughly cleaned and sealed with a clear coat lacquer. the table was salvaged a former architect who worked for a chicago-based architectural firm active during the early 20th century. measures 48 x 37 x adjustable height of 37 to 49 1/2 inches.
