single early 1860's privy dug emerald green porter style smooth base bottle manufactured for edward duffy & sons in philadelphia, pa. the front of the bottle is embossed “e duffy & sons / 914 filbert st”. the slim neck is finished with an applied tapered collar and ring that has visible slop. there are several large bubbles in the body and irridization or discoloration in some areas. the base is flat, with a circular indentation from manufacture with mold. edward duffy & sons is listed as a soap and candle manufacturer in 1863, but is also listed as a bottler in earlier 1856 and 1858 city directories.
