original matching set of c. 1930's american art deco style machine age geometric bookends designed by bauhaus trained artist walter von nessen. the bookends are comprised of brass and copper with original dark bronze-plated finish (applied to the outermost ring). each bookend contains two graduating rings or bands affixed to a weighted rectangular-shaped plate with felt underside. the three tapped solid brass ball finals are original and intact. the bookends were fabricated by the chase brass & copper co., waterbury, connecticut. each bookend contains the lightly incised sagittarius stamp. measure 5 x 5 1/4 x 2 3/4 inches.
