massive late 19th century original and largely intact american victorian era varnished oak wood interior residential console or pier mirror fabricated by the northwestern grille works, chicago, il. the oversized victorian console contains two matching, fully round and slightly tapered columns adorned with ionic style capitals. the protruding seat or shelf is supported in part by a centrally located corbel or bracket. the highly ornate gesso or "plastic" ornament found along the plinth bases, capitals and header remains in good condition, considering age. the darkly stained finish contains evidence of surface crazing. the original thick plate glass mirror remains in great condition. the wall-mount pier mirror was salvaged from a chicago graystone constructed around 1896. 59 x 11 x 92"
