original and intact privy dug mid-nineteenth century deep cobalt blue porter shaped bottle manufactured for john wise. the low, steep shoulders are finished with a long neck and applied tapered collar with ring that exhibits some sllop and crudity. the front body contains large lettering that reads "j. wise / allentown / pa" with a raised end-letter 'a' in the abbreviated 'pennsylvania'. the base has a moderate domed kickup that retains a visible scar as well as heavy residue from the iron pontil. the base has some white patination. strong side seams run from base to neck, evidencing manufacture with a two piece mold. crudities like bubbles, whittling, and surface wear are typical of its age and date of manufacture.
