well-maintained and structurally sound nailed wood portable "explosive projectile" artillery shell or cartridge storage crate designed and fabricated for the united states military. the exact manufacturer of the painted crate is not known. the original tan painted finish with black stenciled markings show very little sign of wear. the military crate contained cartridges or projectiles for use in combat. the exact type, make, etc., are labeled in great detail along the hinged top and sides. the original thick rope handles are in great shape, considering age. only one crate available. measures 14 x 6 1/2 x 25 1/2 inches.
