spectacular all original 19th century hand carved formal parlor room fireplace full mantel attributed to the ironton wood mantel co., ironton, oh. the full-sized quartered oak wood mantle was salvaged from a stately chicago gold coat residence built around 1889. the original varnished finish is largely intact, albeit heavily darkened over the years with superficial allover crazing. the bottom section contains a spacious opening flanked by finely turned columns adorned with intricate filigree. the fire box opening contains a beaded border. the protruding shelf is accentuated with egg & dart molding. the frieze features a centrally located urn flanked by scrollwork. the overmantel or top section retains the original oversized beveled edge mirror flanked by two tapered column contains ornamental columns. the crown contains a repeating dentil pattern. the very top portion of the crown is included (not shown in the images). measures approximately 64 x 11 1/4 x 81 1/2 inches. firebox measures 41 1/2 L x 38 1/2 H.
