all original intact solid quartered oak wood salvaged chicago half-mantel designed and fabricated by chas. f. lorenzen & co., inc., chicago, il. the markings on the backside of the quartered oak wood mantle indicate the chicago-based maker. the interior residential front parlor mantle is comprised of solid quartered white oak wood with the original varnished finish. two opposed and round wood fluted columns support the mantel shelf. the capitals have finely carved volutes. the frieze panel is largely unornamented with a recessed panel surround by elegant trimwork. the antique american mantel was salvaged from a chicago two-flat shortly before demolition. measures 61 x 11 x 51 inches.
