original and completely intact post-fire chicago interior residential salvaged carved marble parlor room mantel fabricated in the shop of the schuremann & hand mantel company, chicago, ills. the 2nd story mantel was removed from a chicago row house constructed in 1874. the mantel retains the original variegated keystone with shield design motif. the frieze and jambs are accentuated with deeply incised lines resembling panels. the mantel is free from breaks, old repairs, cracks, etc. the image shows the mantel "in situ" - prior to being salvaged and brought back the the warehouse were it has been lightly cleaned and stowed away. two matching marble fireplaces were rescued from the same residence. height: 43 1/2"; body width: 51"; mantel piece length: 62"
