original and intact 19th century antique american victorian era ornamental cast iron interior residential pocket door hanger designed and fabricated for the wilcox mfg. co., aurora, ills. a total of twelve pocket door hangers were salvaged from a chicago three-flat built between 1881-1886. the pocket door hardware remains in excellent condition, considering age. the grooved edge spoked wheel or roller originally moved along a wood track built above the pockets. the bracket contains both a patent date and foliated scrollwork. the latter is quite impressive, considering the fact that the pocket door hardware was never meant to be viewed and or appreciated. it just goes to show that the craftsmanship during that time was incredibly important on all levels. the price reflects the singe bracket and wheel shown in the primary image. the hanger has been brushed down to bare metal, cleaned, sealed and oiled.
