original and intact 19th century freestanding salvaged chicago gold enameled cast iron residential fireplace insert designed and fabricated by the dawson brothers, chicago, ills. the dawson gas insert retains the original 3-section grille or screen. the protruding hood and surrounding frame are in great overall condition. the gas insert was salvaged from a chicago three-flat residence built in the 1890's. the original copper-plated finish remains under the gold paint finish. 30.25" x 24.75"
