original late 19th century victorian era varnished oak wood interior residential fireplace mantel salvaged from a chicago graystone. the antique american mantel with large firebox opening retains the original large french bevel mirror flanked by delicate floral rosettes. the beveled edge square mirrors between the protruding shelves are original and completely intact. finely turned hourglass spindles support the shelves. the legs feature carved brackets with detailed leafage directly under the primary shelf. a repeating pearl or circle design motif in sunken relief is found above each plinth. the mantel measures 77 x 64 inches. the firebox opening is 41 1/2 x 36 inches.
