unusually designed early 1920's original american industrial tall freestanding american industrial cast iron spindle drill machine base with newly added solid oak wood square-shaped top. the uniquely-shaped cast iron base was possibly fabricated by the edwin harrington & son company, philadelphia, pa. the protruding floor plates or feet provide added support and stability, along with preventing the stand from tipping over. the unmarked cast iron base has been thoroughly brushed and sanded to achieve a mostly uniform surface finish. to prevent surface corrosion, a clear coat lacquer has been added. the oak wood platform was salvaged from railroad boxcar floor boards. base measures 18 inches x 12 inches, stand height measures 42 inches, table top measures 14 inches x 17 inches.
