intact early 20th century american antique industrial "type e" self-contained diminutive air compressor designed and fabricated by the janette mfg. co., chicago, il. the 110-volt, single-cylinder compressor was used in a variety of settings, including, but not limited to doctor and dental laboratories, factories and sign shops for air brush artists. the versatile "janette" compressor is comprised largely of cast iron with original baked black enameled finish. traces of the partially intact gold pin-striping is evident. the well-maintained compressor retains the original manufacturer name plaques with specifications. the small and portable "janette automatic electric air compressor weighs approximately 38 pounds. the janette manufacuring company was originally located at 556-558 west monroe street, chicago, il. measures 12 x 7 x 13 inches.
