all original and very well-maintained late 19th or early 20th century antique american copper-plated ornamental stamped steel interior residential fireplace gas insert or grate designed and fabricated by the dawson brothers foundry, chicago, il. the late victorian era fireplace contains a lightly polished copper-plated finish throughout. the detachable stamped steel figural summer cover features a centrally located costumed colonial man flanked by flowing ribbons and leafage. the damper handle and gas valve key are intact. great overall condition. salvaged from a chicago two-flat residence undergoing demolition. 24 x 30 1/2" (panel)
