heavily reinforced one-of-a-kind american antique industrial depression era cold-rolled steel chicago railroad engineer's custom-built tool chest or box with intact opposed wrought steel drop handles. the pyramidal-shaped multifaceted hinged top contains deeply incised or stamped lettering and/or numbering - likely for identification purposes. the robust all-riveted joint tool chest was acquired from a descendant of a chicago railroad engineer and/or repairman who worked in one of chicago's roundhouses during the great depression. the spacious interior compartment has been cleaned. the exterior has been brushed and sanded down to bare galvanized metal and sealed with a clear coat lacquer. measures 10 1/2 x 24 1/2 x 9 1/2
