original and remarkably intact early 1920's antique american medical adjustable height stationary stool with a bent steel four-legged base. the adjustable swivel seat with threaded steel rod contains a uniform metallic silver enameled finish. the surgeon stool was manufactured by the sharp & smith co., specializing in surgical instruments, deformity apparatus and surgeons' appliances. the fanciful cabriole style tubular legs are reinforced with an x-brace support system consisting of interlocking solid steel rods. seat width 13", seat height adjusts from 18 1/2" to 25".
