mid-nineteenth century original and completely intact iron pontiled blue green mineral water bottle manufactured for andrew mcfarland of philadelphia, pa. the glasshouse fabricator is not known. the embossed lettering is severely caseworn and barely legible, reading "mcfarland /philad.a" with raised end-letter 'a' in the city. the low, sloping shoulders and long neck are finished with an intact applied blobtop that exhibits heavy whittling. the base of the cylindrical bottle has a deep kickup that retains heavy residue from the iron pontil. the bottle exhibits allover crudity with whittling, several large vertical bubbles in the body and allover seeding. there are visible open bubbles with some discoloration at the shoulder and on the base of this bottle.
