hard to find completely refinished c. 1940 american vintage industrial lathe machine compartmentalized table base. the multi-drawer stationary base was salvaged a chicago tool & die factory machine shop. the vintage factory table base or end table consists of reinforced heavy gauge bent tubular steel with welded joints for added stability. the cabinet contains multiple pull out drawers for small component storage. the table top or deck is comprised of newly added maple wood that has been sanded and stained. the cabinet and supporting legs have been brushed down to bare metal and sealed with a clear coat lacquer. the lathe base was designed by russell e. frushour with a patent issued in 1940. the heavily reinforced repurposed table or stand was fabricated by the south bend lathe works, south bend, indiana. measures 20 1/2 x 20 1/2 x 33 1/2 inches.
