hard to find and intact corbin hardware “catalog no. 27” published in 1927 by the university press (cambridge, ma) for p.& f. corbin, “the american hardware corporation, successor,” located in new britain, ct. the catalogue is casebound and in good condition other than being edgeworn, with an exposed super along the spine. some color has also faded from the cover cloth board. it contains a comprehensive index, including an illustrated index to designs and descriptions of finishes. there are 487 pages of detailed pen and ink illustrations with specifications detailing the entire line of corbin brand locks and hardware (over 974994 products), with inserts throughout augmenting new products. the slogan “good buildings deserve good hardware” can be seen incorporated in many parts of the book design, reflecting the company’s ambition to “[make] this truth a world maxim.” p. & f. corbin was a major manufacturing company founded in 1849, which, through a series of mergers in the 20th century was taken over by black & decker. measures 8.5 x 11 inches.
