refinished american late depression era office desk or table lamp with tapered pedestal supporting an oversized "flying saucer" shaped reflector or shade with solid brass ball finial. the streamlined style fixture contains a weighted round base with a single "step" or tier. the light source consists of a single round fluorescent tube that conforms to the shape of the reflector. the exterior has been brushed down to bare metal and sealed with a clear coat lacquer. the shade's underside retains the original white reflective paint for increased luminosity. the desk lamp was designed and fabricated by the compco corporation, chicago, il. measures 15 1/4 diameter x 16 1/4 high inches.
